CANDID FESTIVAL 2007 is almost here!!!
Held at the award winning PizzaExpress Jazz Club, in Soho, London, the 10th Annual Candid Jazz Festival runs from Tuesday 30th October until Sunday 4th November and will present Candid's accomplished jazz artists and fantastic rising stars. This jam packed week will feature notable album launches by jazz vocalist Mishka Adams, showcasing original material from her eagerly awaited second album 'Space', ace trumpeter, Shanti Paul Jayasinha, whose album 'Round Trip' is is first outing as leader and the amazingly talented Sheila Cooper on vocals/alto saxophone with acclaimed Austrian pianist Fritz Pauer, who will be performing music from Sheila's forthcoming debut 'Tales Of Love and Longing'. Sheila will be on a double bill with Irish singer Cormac Kenevey, who dazzled his audiences last year and the festival week will build to the grand finale on Sunday 4th November- the introduction of an exciting and ground-breaking jazz group, The Blessing who were hailed “Band of the year” by Venue Magazine, Jazz/World round-up 2006. There is no doubt that the sensational American vocalist Robin McKelle, has officially arrived on the jazz scene. With a sound that is reminiscent to post war jazz greats like Sarah Vaughan and Ella Fitzgerald, her debut album Introducing has already won the affection of accomplished BBC broadcasters, Michael Parkinson, Malcolm Laycock and others.. Robin McKelle will be giving a special performance at the Radio Theatre at Broadcasting House with the BBC Big Band on 28th November 2007.
